The Dream Box III by Latest in Beauty

So it arrived……….the latest editon of the Latest in Beauty Dream box brought to you by the British Beauty Blogger. If you’ve never experienced one of these before ladies you are in for a treat.

Where’s it from: you can purchase this box from

Cost: £21.95 with free postage and packaging

Whats in it: 15 sample and full size items all wrapped up in a reusable box. It comes with a booklet with info and offers

See below what I think of the third edition in the series.

1. Two full size Essence Nail varnishes 8mls each.

The Nudes: 03 I’m lost in you – glossy finish standard everyday nude

The Pastels: 04 Sweet at first sight- in the bottle it looks frosty, cheap and nasty however it dries Matt and leaves natural pale pink colour with faint shimmer. I love the finish.

Verdict: dries quickly, needs two coats, good value for money, neutral look for everyday wear.

2. One full size Bourjois Rouge Velvet Lip gloss

07 Nude-ist Matt Finish 7.7ml – I’ve been wanting to try one of these for ages! It does not disappoint. Once this is applied it doesn’t budge. I got a pretty pink nude colour and will definitely try more in this range. See it swatched on the right below. Pigmentation is fantastic.

3.  One Eye of Horus eye pencil full size.

Lazuli blue goddess eye pencil- Anything that includes the name of an Egyptian god in it must be good. This product is paraben free which is always good for sensitive eyes. This is a beautiful aquatic colour it reminds me of a mermaid. It does not smudge or move even when rubbed and comes with a handy smudge applicator on one end.  See swatch below ;

4. Makeup Revolution – the one fluid blusher 14.4g

I got the colour pink dew- I have to say I was surprisingly pleased with an eyeshadow palette from this budget brand I received in a previous box. However I was disappointed in this product. I found it watery, pale and poor colour payoff. Even when built up it doesn’t really give a desired effect. You could possibly use it as a faint highlighter on cheeks but that’s it. Thumbs down from me. Can’t even show you a swatch as it doesn’t pick up on camera.

5. Benefit they’re real makeup remover 7.5 mls

A teeny tiny sample size. I am excited to try this product and see if it lives up to all the hype. I use both they’re real eyeliner and mascara which are hard to budge. I feel this remover is a tad overpriced.

6. Nuxe Masque Creme Fraiche 50ml

I got this before in a glossybox and it leaves skin feeling fresh, hydrated and calm. Suitable for sensitive skin and does not irritate my eczema prone face. Good to have a back up.

7. Ole Henriksen pure true melting cleanser 15ml

Have been wanting to try a product from this brand for a while now. Excited to try and compare with Liz Earle cleanse and polish as I feel it strips my skin of moisture.

8. Deciem Hand Chemistry 30ml

Ok do we all really need another handcream? This one is the No 1 selling handcream in boots. It smells pretty good has a citrus smell not too overpowering . Skin feels soft and hydrated and a bit younger looking so thumbs up from me.

9. The Scottish fine soap company 100g

I got the sea kelp one . I have to say I am not a big user of bars of soap. I prefer liquid soap not as messy. However this pretty little bar comes dressed in a beautiful tin.The smell is so uplifting and it would make a nice gift.

10. Crabtree & Evelyn pear and pink magnolia body lotion 50ml

I love the scent of pears and it a nice travel size for holiday.

11. Vita Liberata luxury tan in medium 20ml

It’s that time of year again body prep begins for summer . I will definitely give this a go nice to receive a mitt to go with it even if it is a bit on the small size. No overwhelming scent from it which is reassuring.

12. Salon Science smoothing serum 50ml

I’ve recently become really into serum and oil for my hair. Hopefully this will help condition my dry ends in between salon visits.

13. Fleur de Figuier Eau De Parfum

I am a big  fan of this brand this particular one is light a fruity perfect for summer.

14.Orelia gold tattoos

I have been wanting to try some temp tattoos .  Summer is approaching these would look great with a tan.

15. Dr organic aloe vera cherry lip balm SPF 15 full size

Chunky tube easier to find in your handbag not fussed on the smell it’s like marzipan.

Once again Latest in Beauty comes up with a top notch beauty box I only wish it was monthly.

Birchbox v Glossy box September 2014

So I received both my beauty boxes this weekend and thought I would do a quick review. First to arrive was my Birchbox and it didn’t disappoint;

First up was a full size beauty blender. I was so excited when I received one. I saw a spoiler and knew that only customers that hadn’t previously received one in a past box would then get one this month. I did receive one when I subscribed as an extra! So was delighted to see another one completed with the cleanser for the sponge. Retail price £26.00

I received these sample sized products also ;

1. Benefit it’s potent eye cream: I recently received this in a latest in beauty box. It comes in a very cute miniature jar. The product is very soothing on the eyes. I’m not sure that it did much to my dark circles I maybe needed to try it for longer. I will give it another go. I received 3.0g full size retails for £25.50

2. Skin & co Sicilian light serum. Again a tiny sample and feels mostly air to be honest. But I shall give it a go. Full size retails for £29

3. Agave oil treatment 4ml. This smells amazing. I’m always a bit nervous of oils in case my hair goes flat and greasy but shall give it a go! full size £16

4. Model&co lipgloss in Morocco. This was one of three products you could choose as a subscriber this month. It’s a fun idea I chose the darker of two shades of lipgloss. You also had option of a mascara. It’s a nice gloss lovely feeling on lips and lovely colour.

5. Urban fruit pineapple snack. This was delicious however I reckon £13.20 for 6 small packets is a bit expensive… Maybe a typo

The best thing was the box this month turned into box photo frames to reuse they are really gorgeous colours and I can’t wait to get them on the wall in my beauty corner. We also received a lovely photo clip mine came in bright pink! Reminds me of childhood when these were all the rave lol

Next up was glossy box the Karen Millen London fashion week special edition

First impressions the box is really nice to look at has London skyline embossed on pale grey box. Stylish and reusable.

First product that jumped out was the full size Nails Inc matte top coat. This was a lovely frosted effect bottle. Will definitely try this out soon. Retail for £12.

I also received the following samples
1. L’oreal professional mythic masque this retails for £15.50 for full size 200ml I received 75mls decent size and comes in a cute pot.

2. Model&co more brows fibre gel. I was very excited about receiving this however I received light/ medium by brows are jet black lol this looks very similar to benefit gimme brows which I absolutely love it’s amazing. It’s says full size £14.95 however I checked model&co website and it’s £9 for this product. Slightly misleading glossybox. I might try the dark colour after i finish my benefit one.

3. Skin pep enzyme and acid peel and eye cream . So I won’t be trying the face peel anything that says acid will be staying well away from my Face I have sensitive skin prone to eczema breakouts. I will be trying the eye cream as I have bad dark circles. Still on the look out for a great dark circle eye cream however don’t think I could afford the price tag of this one.
Full size face peel £89.99 fans eye cream £44.99

4. Two more small samples Vichy hydrating care and night detox. I will be happy to give these a go. Day cream retails for £12 and the night cream £15.50

All in all a good enough box so disappointed about the brow product I think this is a silly product to put in as, glossy box does not have any idea what colour of brows one may have! You cannot judge by hair colour my natural colour is blonde but I have jet black brows.

And the winner is……..has to be birchbox. The overall theme is for September is inspiring and I will use all the products. The beauty blender really sold it!

Until next month

So I finally caved and ordered a birchbox! I wasn’t disappointed. The last few boxes I have seen have been pretty awesome. So when an email came In offering a free beauty blender & and blender cleanser if you subscribed to the July box I couldn’t resist! Review Clinique chubby stick

So this month in the uk freebies with women’s magazines where top notch.
In glamour magazine the offering was High end beauty brand Clinique. For the cost of the magazine £2 you could pick up a Clinique beauty treat. On offer were two different colours of chubby sticks 06 whopping’watermelon and 07 super strawberry. Of course I had to pick up both….. after finding the lighter shade whoppin’watermelon I made it a mission to get the second shade. So after riffling through the box at he newsagent I picked up both shades! Since then I haven’t seen any glamour magazines on the shelf so they must have sold out mega quick! Also on offer was a mini mascara and a mini lotion.
So I thought I would do a mini review on the chubby sticks. Firstly the packaging was a very cute high quality glossy tube. I am assuming the ones I got are a miniature version the full size is 10 oz/3G retail price is £17 my favourite shade was super strawberry it was much more pigmented the whoppin watermelon just left a faint stain on lips. They are very moisturising but like all balms do not stay on the longest. However they are a nice size to keep in your purse and freshen lips up during the day if you are after a natural look. Thanks glamour mag for this months offering last month I got an eyeko skinny liquid eyeliner in black and I have nearly finished it! Will definitely look into buying this.

NEW benefit cha cha balm

So I was quite excited to see that benefit were releasing an ultra hydrating balm with a tint for the lips. The packaging of course sucked me in and I went for the cha cha version of the new benebalm. Tbh I think I was expecting a bit more for the money I paid £15.00 which is quite a lot for a lip balm when the likes of maybelline baby lips are £2.99. When I tried this balm on at first it immediately felt luxurious and moisturising on the lips. I thought the tint would be a bit more evident however it is faint on the lips. The benefit girl at the counter said it’s to wear over one of the benetints as the tints lack moisture and can be drying ! I agree I find the posey tint quite drying and leaves my lips feeling dry and cracked. Overall verdict for a lip balm this is a nice enough but you could pick one up just as good a lot cheaper. The packaging however is pretty classy and a nice quick pick me up throughout the day. q
